 The jetNEXUS ALB-X VA is a complete virtual appliance solution. 

This build includes our custom Kernel operating system integrated with our highly tuned ALB-X software. The virtual appliance easily runs on many desktop environments as well as the award winning VMware ESX server. The installation is simple and quick and requires no experience of the underlying operating system. The entire configuration can be carried out via the jetNEXUS web admin console or the jetNEXUS discovery application.

 What about the performance?

The performance benefits of running a virtual load balancer/ADC (Application Delivery Controller) within a virtual environment are clear. VMware provides outstanding server level resilience, scalability and performance whilst the jetNEXUS ALB-X VA delivers superb application level resilience, performance and acceleration.

The ALB-X VA offers similar levels of performance to our hardware appliance. The ALB-X VA can manage many hundreds of megabytes throughput running as a virtual machine.

 What about failover?

Multiple jetNEXUS Virtual appliances can be run across multiple virtual servers providing the same level of resilience as the hardware appliance. In addition products such as VMOTION can further improve the overall failover design.

Support Statement:

jetNEXUS confirms that we will support customers running ALB-X VA on supported Operating Systems in a VMware virtual machine environment.
jetNEXUS will provide unqualified support for ALB-X VA running in a VMware virtual environment in an identical manner as with ALB-X VA running on any other major x86 based systems without initially requiring reproduction of issues on native hardware. Should jetNEXUS suspect that the virtualization layer is the root cause of an incident; the customer will be required to contact the appropriate VMware support provider to resolve the VMware issue.
While jetNEXUS products are expected to function properly in a VMware virtual environment, there may be performance implications which can invalidate jetNEXUS typical sizing and recommendations.
