How to Install the jetNEXUS ISO
Installation of the jetNEXUS ISO requires no significant technical know-how, just follow the three stage guide:
Download the ISO from the jetNEXUS web site (www.jetnexus.com/iso_loadbalancer.html) and burn it to CD. You
can use your default CD burner application or you can download and install an open source (and free) application such
as InfraRecorder (http://infrarecorder.org/) or a trial of commercial products such as Nero (http://www.nero.com).
Take the jetNEXUS CD you’ve just burned on your drive and chose an appropriate server hardware platform to build
as an ALB-X. We strongly recommend at least a high end Pentium 4 processor and 512MB of RAM, an 80GB hard disk
as well as two Intel or Broadcom Gigabit NICs (required). Note: The hard disk will be completely wiped and reformatted
as part of the installation process!
Boot the server hardware from the jetNEXUS CD - you may need to check the BIOS will boot first from the CD ROM
– and type “jetnexus” at the installer prompt followed by a short coffee break. Once the CD is ejected, the server hardware
will reboot. You now have a jetNEXUS Accelerating Load Balancer!
Hardware Requirements
CPU and Memory
A high-end Pentium 4 with
512MB of RAM. More memory
would be required where caching
is being employed. How much
will of course depend on how
much data you are planning for
the ALB-X to cache.
Note: performance is significantly
improved by running multi
core CPU’s.
Network Requirements
Two NICs (Network Interface
Cards). jetNEXUS ISO build officially
supports only Intel and
Broadcom on the basis of their
suitability for - and performance
with network intensive processes
on server hardware.
