jetNEXUS Accelerating Load Balancer Extreme ISO |
The jetNEXUS ALB-X ISO is an installable version of the jetNEXUS Accelerating
Load Balancer Extreme. It is a fully integrated software product complete with
operating system and installer that can be easily used to build jetNEXUS ALBs on
supported server hardware platforms.
The build process is simple and requires no installation configuration or
understanding of the underlying custom Linux operation system. Simply boot the
jetNEXUS ISO on the server hardware’s CD drive and let the builder run.
Once completed, you will have a full jetNEXUS ALB-X based on your chosen
server hardware platform.

Why use the jetNEXUS ISO? |

It is no longer necessary to use dedicated
specialised hardware for Load
Balancing. With the ever increasing
performance capacities of standard server hardware, it makes a lot of sense to take advantage of this trend
rather than purchasing dedicated hardware.
In many cases it can also be more environmentally responsible to reprovision
older server hardware and purchase new hardware for more CPU intensive applications. |
| Software load balancers can help with these issues, but require a complex understanding of the underlying operating
system. In addition to the obvious build complexity, ‘problem ownership’ is not clear. Load balancers can
certainly be described as mission critical equipment and any ambiguities as to who owns the problem should failures
occur can only extend downtime. Is it the hardware, the operating system, the software, or some aspect of
the configuration of any of these elements? |

The jetNEXUS ISO simplifies this ownership issue in a number of ways.
Hardware issues are normally clearly identifiable (e.g. a power supply failure
or similar) and remain the responsibility of the hardware supplier, but
any other issue becomes jetNEXUS’ support responsibility.
In addition,jetNEXUS ALB-X can be configured in a paired, high-availability configuration
that eliminates downtime as a matter of course.
