The jetNEXUS Web Accelerator uses the tried and tested jetNEXUS compression algorithm to deliver compressed optimized content in a form that is readable by the browsers. The jetNEXUS Web Accelerator is a standard component the jetNEXUS ALB & ALB X.

Once enabled, the acceleration component will provide your business with an instant reduction in bandwidth requirement (directly proportional with the level of acceleration achieved). Your customers will experience improved page delivery times, so that both you, and your customers, will experience the benefits of jetNEXUS Acceleration.

Improved Page Delivery Times

Highly efficient acceleration algorithms ensure superb page delivery times whilst under significant load. The jetNEXUS ALB can accelerate HTML, SHTML, DHTML, JHTML, PHTML, SOAP, J2EE, JSP, ASP, ASPX, CSS, Javascript, XML and more. It also accelerates Office Documents (DOC, XLS, PPT, etc.) as well as configurable MIME types.

Acceleration

The jetNEXUS accelerator operates through personal firewalls, providing direct HTTP 1.0 and HTTP 1.1 Acceleration. It accelerates HTTP 1.1 through HTTP 1.0 Proxies and Caches (e.g. Squid, MS ISA, etc.) The ALB can act on HTTP headers, POSTS, SOAP, HTML, JavaScript, etc.

Users can also experience B2B acceleration between any two jetNEXUS appliances in a multi-point accelerator network including the acceleration of uploaded POST data (not just GETs)

Dynamic Data Compression

Rule based compression detects and compensates for browser behavioral differences and defects, therefore guaranteeing accelerated pages can be displayed correctly by the client's browser. This advanced rule based procedure has been built up over the last 5 years and ensures that if an object such as a base page or Java script is compressed the end user can render the page as normal.

Decompression is handled by the client browser(nearly every browser in use today has standardised decompression built-in), so no client plug-in is required and deployment is transparent to site visitors.

Connection Management

The advanced connection management features allow the jetNEXUS ALB to control and manage the connections to both the client and back end web servers. jetNEXUS can open a number of connections to backend node and reuse them thus avoiding tcp slow start etc.

In addition to this, jetNEXUS support the "server too busy" function. This feature allows you to put a restriction on the number of connections a web server or group of web servers can handle. Once this number is reached, jetNEXUS will display a custom server too busy page (that can be uploaded via the GUI) until the number of connections has been reduced.In addition to the advanced compression the connection management helps to reduce server load and improve end user delivery times.

jetNEXUS Accelerator can be used by e-commerce sites, corporate data centres, extranets, web hosts, service providers, as well as applications dependent on HTTP/ HTTPs services. It is platform-independent and applies high performance content compression to web services such as iPlanet/SunOne, WebLogic, Websphere, Apache and Tomcat (among others) along with their supporting database and application service environments.

The jetNEXUS Accelerator is supported by all standard web browsers and requires no client component. Browsers supported include MS IE 4.0+, Netscape 4.0+, Opera and Fire-Fox.

MS Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator, since version 4, all have the ability to accept some level of accelerated content WITHOUT requiring a plug-in or other modification to the browser. Web servers on the other hand have themselves provided little or no direct support for this ability. jetNEXUS Accelerator provides the means to exploit this feature, and in doing so significantly improves the customer experience as well as providing considerable network benefits.
